JOHN WILLIS WILKINSON was born 1816 in South or North Carolina, and died October 16, 1888 in Arkansas. He married (1) ELIZABETH ?. She died Abt. 1848. He married (2) NANCY S. MCKINNEY 1852 in Marion County, Georgia, daughter of G. MCKINNEY and MARTHA ??. She was born February 15, 1827 in Georgia, and died January 09, 1917 in Ingalls, Bradley County, Arkansas. Notes for JOHN WILLIS WILKINSON: Though John Willis Wilkinson is not actually buried in Union Hill Cemetery near Ingalls, Arkansas, a memorial marker was placed by O. M. Wilkinson, Jr. in 1990. Wilkinson, Nancy Warren, Jan. 13 - Mrs. Nancy S. Wilkinson, aged 90, died at the home of her grandson, John Huitt, at Ingalls, Thursday. She was born in Georgia February 15, 1827. She lived most of her life in this county, coming here when a small child. She was married in 1847. Burial took place yesterday at the Union Hill cemetery, the Rev. J.B. Luck of Warren officiating. Notes for WILLIAM JAMES WILKINSON: While a very young child, his father playfully tossed him in the air, was about to let him crash, grabbed for him, caught an ankle, saved him from hitting the ground, but his hip joint was damaged and he walke with a limp the rest of his life. On his and Nancy's farm near Warren (see notes with Nancy), no crops were raised. He preferred hunting and fishing to farming, but he did run a few hogs in the Saline bottoms. Families traveling west were often stopped by flooding on L'Aigle Creek near their hom. Nan didliked people camping in their fields and insisted Will file a aten on a tract of land a coupl eof miles east of Warren. In 1905 they sold their Ingalls home to Dr. Crow and moved to the farm near Warren. That home, now gone, was a "dog trot" house. Her marriage to William James Wilkinson was half of a double wedding ceremony. At the same time, her old sister, Cornelia Alabama Weems, married William J. Heatherinton.
