JOSEPH JONES WAS BORN 1810 IN GEORGIA. Parents unknown. He was in the 1860 Calhoun Co. Ark. census, as a 49 year old head of household with no wife. His wife Elizabeth Waldon?/Walden?b. 1813, Ga.; had died before the census was taken. Joseph had a batch of children ,several being listed in Joseph Jones' 1850 Talladega, Alabama census were gone from home by the 1860 Calhoun Co.Ar. census, leaving William age 21, b.1838 Gal as the eldest son still home in Calhoun Co.Ar. with siblings: Isaac b. 1840 Ga.; James, b. 1842 Ga.; Martha age 15, b. Al.; Mary age 12, Al.; Aaron A. age 10, b. 1849 Al.; Joseph Jr. age 7, b. 1852 Al; and D. Franklin age 4, b. 1855. In the 1870 Calhoun Co. Ar. census, there was another wife for Joseph, named Eliza ( Mays-Mosely?) but she was younger, b. 1822, in Tenn. and another young son D. Gardner (Garnier?) b. 1863, Ark. And,William, age 18 and a step-son of Josephs' (child of Eliza Mosely)is in the 1870 census also. Joseph Jones age 68 and wife Eliza age 54, are still in the 1880 Calhoun Co.Ark census. The next family listed by Joseph Jones in 1880 census is Joseph T. Jones, age 26 and wife Rena who must have outlived Joseph T. because Rena Jones Arnold is in the Calhoun Co. cemetery lists. I don't know who this Joseph T. is because I cannot find him in any census records of Joseph Jones, b. 1810 Ga. so I cannot count him as a son of Joseph Sr. b. 1810 Ga.Does anyone know? Josephs' son William, is in the Newton Cemetery listings, b. 9 Dec. 1839 16 April 1921; along with his wife Levinia Argess Tommason b. b. 9 Sep.1840 -d. 11 Apr.1900. I have never found another wife for William Jones, b. 1839 son of Joseph Jones, b. 1810. If anyone knows of any other wife for this William Jones, I would really like to know of it. Because: I believe this William is the William Jones listed in the 2nd Ark Cavalry Battalion for the CSA, Co. A. CalhounTroop which became Co. G as listed in the Calhoun Co. Arkansas Civil War lists..... AND... who has a wife named Mary credited to him as being in the Calhoun Co. 1860 census. I cannot find this William and Mary in the 1860 Calhoun Co. census. I do find a William W. and wife Mary in the Servier Co.Arkansas 1860 census, but he is 38 which might be too old for him to have been a private in the enlistement of 1861. I believe my William Jones b. 1838/39 enlisted at the same time as his brother Isaac did. As you can see, I need help. So many Jones in this county of Calhoun, but I believe they are all from the same families...... and I want to know about them. I also want to know who Joseph Jones' parents were when he was born in 1810 Ga. But, Mainly, I am interested in William Jones, b. 1839 Ga. and who married Levinia Argess Tommason in Calhoun Co.Ark. and who died in Calhoun Co. Ark. in 1921. I know that William had a son named Willis C. who became a local Hampton and Calhoun Co.Arkansas Dr. and practiced til 1843 in Calhoun Co. Ark. What else can anyone tell me? Thanks. C.
