I am seeking more information on Evan/Ivan Floyd who lived in Calhoun and Ouachita Counties in the 1850's and his son Samuel (or any of their children). Evan was found in the 1850 census in the Locust Bayou twp of Ouachita Co AR which became part of Calhoun within the next couple of years. He also had a land grant issued 5-15-1852 Calhoun. Evan Floyd and first wife possibly Sarah Floyd md Montgomery Co Alabama 5 Oct 1830. They had the following known children: William abt 1833 Nancy abt 1837 Rebecca abt 1839 Sarah abt 1841 Evan married Jane White in Pike Co Alabama on 20 Aug 1842 and they had the following known children: Samuel bet 1843-1845 Charlotte abt 1847 All children per census born in Alabama Evan's father William died in Pike Co Alabama and the estate records show Evan to be in Arkansas. I found a marriage record for Nancy E Floid and Wm H Harper on 27 Oct 1858 in Calhoun AR. Wm Harper and first wife Elizabeth found in the 1850 Calhoun Ar census. Wm Harper and wife Nancy found in the 1860 Ouachita Co AR census. I believe her to be the daughter of Evan My great grandfather Samuel Floyd shows up again in the 1870 Ouachita Census with his wife Ellen. He is in the 1880 as well there (manager of the poor house) and died 28 May 1893. He is buried beside his first wife Ellen Morgan Floyd (both unmarked) in the Bell (Lampkin) Cemetery in Chidester AR. There was a wooden shelter over Ellen's grave that stood for many years. Samuel had a land grant issued June 1 1875 Ouachita Co AR. Samuel and Ellen had the following children Mattie md Zachariah Smith then Harry McLaughlin Lizzie May md Ellis Oliver Otwell Sam Rayburn Jr md Mildred Howard Frank md Maggie Howard Walter md Lalah ? Samuel married Mary Butler (after Ellen died) on May 4 1885 Their only child Oscar Floyd married Allie Myrtle Moseley I need information as to where these Floyd's were from 1852 to 1870? Any information on these Floyd's would be greatly appreciated. I firmly believe that Evan is Samuel's father. I just need a solid bit of proof. Thank you and I will help anyone else who is searching this line. Notify Administrator about this message?
