Looking for parents and first wife of George Bates who resided in Carrollton in 1850 with wife Nancy and children William (1836) and James (1838).Next door was daughter Mary and her husband, Samuel Chandler with their children. Next to Samuel Chandler was George Bates Jr.(1826, son with 1st wife) and his family Jane (Eggers), James, George, and Abner.
George Sr. was born in N or S Carolina, children with his first wife are Abner 1818, Alfred 1822, Mary 1825, George Jr. 1826, James A. 1830 plus others. He had William and second son named James with wife Nancy. They moved to Crawford County Missouri by 1860. And were in Tennessee prior to moving to Arkansas. I am only interested in DOCUMENTED facts. I will share what I have. I have seen listings that Matthew & Judith are his parents. I have been to Washington County Kentucky and have marriage records for Matthews children and there was no indication that this George was there.
