Did you ever find out any more about the origins of the name for Clark County in Arkansas? There was a rather large group of people named Clark who lived there. Look up Christopher Columbus Clark and his wife, Elizabeth Watson. If the county is named after Governor Clark, one has to wonder if he was related to any of the Clarks who settled there. Otherwise, why would they have picked the name? It is more logical to think that the county was named because they (the Clarks)were there than to think they went there because the county was named Clark! When did your great grandfather live in Clark County and what was his name, if I may ask?
My father was born in Mt. Ida, AR in 1906, and he was named for this family--Clark Knight. Elizabeth Watson Clark was his great aunt.
