Hi! I would like to ask anyone who is a male descendant of any of the Weir families of Clark Co., Arkansas to consider participating in the Weir family DNA project. This project can be accessed at the following site http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/w/weir/ You may order your test from this site or order the test on your own and join the study after your results are in. I would suggest the 37 marker test as a minimum. I am soliciting participants from Clark Co., ARK because that is where my recent Weir ancestors lived. I have a male DNA sample from my line of Weir's and the combination of markers is highly unusual. At this moment, compared to people in the public databases, they are one of a kind (not just among Weir's, but everyone). I would like to determine if some of the rare marker counts are recent mutations or if they carry back for several generations. Because these markers are fairly rare, it should be easy to connect the members of this family tree. The DNA sample is of haplotype I1a and there are very few Weir/Ware's of this haplotype in the databases. You may find these results at the above site under the "results" tab at the top of the page. The ancestor is Thomas Weir, Pittsylvania Co., VA. My line goes back through William Pettus Weir, Abraham Absalom (App)Weir, Abraham Landers Weir, Turner Weir, William Weir, Thomas Weir (Pittsylvania Co., VA). It was Turner Weir's widow who moved to Clark Co. with Jesse Skinner in the 1830's time frame. The family stayed in this area until William Pettus Weir left for Texas in the early 1900's. You do not have to be descended directly from one of these men, but may be a male descendant of a brother or male cousin in order to link to this line. I am happy to share all of my research with anyone who may choose to participate. Please e-mail me directly or reply on this message board if you would like assistance with joining the DNA project or would like to share information. Thank you, Alison Weir Small Notify Administrator about this message?
