Thomas Shoemaker Shot by Philip Johnston in Greenville

I am looking for the Thomas E. Shoemaker who appeared in Circuit Court in the Town of Greenville, Clark County, Arkansas, on October 21, 1839. Thomas E. Shoemaker was shot in the breast by Philip P Johnston, and was appearing as a witness for the state.

I have no known connection to Thomas Shoemaker, but my GGGF John Anthony Shoemaker appeared in the same court six months earlier concerning a bad debt. Therefore, I assume that they are related. I have been unable to locate Thomas Shoemaker in any census records in AR, even though the court case continued on into 1844. It appears that the case against Philip Johnston was eventually dropped, for want of the evidence of Thomas Shoemaker.

Does anyone have a Thomas E. Shoemaker who might have been in southern Arkansas during that time period? I am thinking that he may have returned to TN, AL or MS. If anyone has knowledge of a Thomas E. Shoemaker in any of those states around that time I would appreciate hearing from you. I have no info as to his DOB or any other information.
