Seeking information on the family of William Barnett (born about 1798 SC) and wife Mary Butler (born about 1806 NC). They married in MS in 1826 where they remained until sometime after 1840. They were on the 1850 census of Morehouse Parish LA and on the 1860 census of Drew County AR. In 1870 Mary was living with her son William H. Barnett in Carroll Parish LA and was presumably widowed. In 1880 she was living with her daughter Julia Ann Mathews in San Jacinto County TX. I descend from Fountain Winston Butler (born 1825) who lived near Mary Butler Barnett’s parents in Lawrence County MS. I am trying to determine if there is a connection between the families. I am particularly interested in the contents of the estate settlements of William and Mary, if they exist. William’s estate was likely settled in AR or LA, and Mary presumably died in TX. Per on-line birth records an L.B. Barnett was born in San Jacinto County in 1937. This is perhaps a descendant of Luke B. Barnett, son of William and Mary, who was living in San Jacinto County in 1880.
