Ku Klux Klan murders/Drew-Lincoln Cos. Ark

Seeking any info on KKK violence in southeastern Arkansas in 1880's-1890's, especially in Drew & Lincoln counties.
Supposedly, my great great uncle, Thomas Lafayette Brown Jr. was killed in a gun battle near Tyro, Lincoln Co, Ark. on March 25, 1890 at age 28.
One version of the story is that a man was under guard by a sheriff's deputy in the man's house near Tyro...that Klansmen showed up late at night, then shot and killed the deputy and the man under guard. I don't know if Thomas may have been the deputy or the man under guard in his house. I also have no idea what triggered the killings, if they did happen. I do know that Thomas left behind a widow, Frances "Fannie" Lay and two young sons, Thomas, Jr. and Charles Andrew Brown. Thomas Jr. married Annie Wilkins and 2nd married Velma Atkinson, all buried in Tyro cemetery. Charles Andrew went to Pine Bluff and married Inez _______.
One interesting note: Annie Wilkins was related to Andrew "Andy" Wilkins. A story handed down says, in the Tyro area, Andy got into a fight with some men, possibly Klansmen, shot and killed three of them, and survived.
Many thanks for any help proving any of this.
