Are there any state or county censuses, or tax records, available for 1890 - 1896 where I could look for my grandparents' family?
Three of my aunts birthplace is listed as being born in Arkansas in the early 1890's. In a taped story of her memories, the oldest of these says they lived in Hot Springs. Sounds like they lived in two different places; the second house is one Henry built. I believe, from the story, Henry was working for the railroad when they first came to Hot Springs. In 1880 they were in Missouri, by 1900 they were in Oklahoma.
At that point in time, the family make up would be:
Henry J Kelley, b. 1817, MO
Eva Altizer Kelley, b. 1872, IL
Julia Fay Kelley, b. 17 February 1891, AR
Audrice Aline Kelley, b. 22 February 1893, AR
Lulu Kelley, b. 25 February, 1895
The next child was born in Kansas in 1897; the last 5 children were born in Cherokee, Oklahoma (1899 - 1914).
