Greetings,
I am looking for connections to Smiths in Izard County - My deceased mother-in-law was Merle (smith) Neal. I have pieced together the following from Ancestry.com & Family Search.org:
1. Thomas Gregory Smith m Elizabeth Gregory abt. 1835. Elizabeth was born in TN, her father in NC, her mother in SC. After Thomas she remarried three more times (one was Kendrick, two children and one, Ambrose Killian). Have not found anything else on Thomas, it appears that he died sometime before 1845. He may have been married previously to a "Nancy" in Ohio.
2. Thomas Gregory Smith (son of Thomas and Elizabeth). Also,sister Mary Jane born 1838. No record of wife's name so far.
3. Thomas E. Smith (son of Thomas 2)born 1867 m. Ader Barksdale
4. Eugene Smith, born 1895(son of Thomas and Ader) m. Francis Sarah Kankey.
5. Merle Smith, born 1929, (dau of Eugene & Francis, sister to George and Revel) m. Lindle Alex Neal, Wenatchee WA
6. Mark Joseph Neal, born 1956 (son of Lindle & Merle, brother of Bradley and Gwynda)- My husband!
Merle's cousin, Lynn Barksdale lives here in Wenatchee.
