Trying to find information on the Murphy ,Godwin-Goodwin and Graves families in this county during the 1860's to late 1870s My grgr grandmother Olive Godwin but listed as Goodwin is living in the household of the Dowell family in the 1870 census . I know that she was farmed out to this family and had two sons by the 1870's out of wedlock in 1873 she had my gr grandfather Chester Nevada Godwin who was the son of someone in this household that was politically connected and had money and power. How do I know this because they bought my grgr grandmothers silence made her wealthy not to talk about this. Im am pretty positive that James Godwin,Elmer Godwin and Chester all had the same dad. He was a year younger than my grgr grandmother Olive and if he had married my grandmother would have been disowned and disinherited. Gr gr grandmother Olive was born in June of 1850. Do the math and think about the household that she was living in The famous Dowells who were politically connected and wealthy. Wish I could find a paper trail to prove my theories but as of now all I have is my grandfathers death record stating he was born in Jackson county Arkansas in 1873 Bird Township. Please if anyone has information or can find paperwork on any of these families please contact me to1960ny@hotmail.com Im just trying to find my grgr grandfather and nothing else Oh one more note When this man died he supposingly left money to my gr grandfather Chester (Mose) Godwin in a will. My gr grandfather refused it because he the man never married my grgrgrandmother.
