There is a delayed birth certificate for Newton Arthur Bynum, born 1/27/1882 in Johnson County. Mother was Laura WOODS. 1944, Binder 2, Vol. 101, certificate 1002 Also, William Oscar Bynum, born 12/10/1894. 1943, Binder 3, Vol. 158, certificate 4262 You can get these from the Arkansas State Health Dept. for a fee. If they are useful, offer a small donation to the Arkansas Genealogical Society - this information comes from their Arkansas Prior Births (2008, CD, vol 1-6). Perhaps (no assurance) there was some additional supporting information provided when these certificates were requested that would be useful. You will also want to know that Cabin Creek became Lamar. I don't see an Ivan Woods in 1880 (or in any other online index, for that matter - I suggest you look for a printed state index for 1870 at a local library), but there is a Laura, age 15, living with her grandmother, Becky Woods, age 65, in White Oak Township, Franklin County, Arkansas (microfilm Series: T9 Roll: 44 Page: 725). On the same page is a Frank Woods and family. Frank & Becky both born in Tenn., Frank's wife & all the children in Ark, oldest child 13, so if this is a family group, they could have been in Arkansas since at least 1865 based on this Laura's age. However there is also a Laura Wood (b. abt 1866) who married J.F. King in Franklin Co. in 1882. So perhaps not her. Notify Administrator about this message?
