William Watson, Decater Watson

My ggf was John Decatur Watson who lived in nearby Independence County when he married Sarah Jane Bruce nee Sexton in 1847. I'm looking for his and her parents. In the 1830 census there is a William Watson in Lawrence County with a son of the right age to be John D., who was born 1820-21. I'm hoping he is John D.'s pappy.

A marriage license from March, 1841, shows that a "Decater" Watson married Lucretia Woodrome in Lawrence County. Our family history is that the Watson, Rawlings, and Fulton families arrived in Batesville, Independence County, from Virginia, in 1825-26, and "pressed on to Powhatan." I'm guessing that Decater Watson is my John Decatur Watson. I'm guessing that he married Lucretia first (He was 20, she was 16) and that he later married Sarah Jane Bruce nee Sexton. I see the Sexton family in Lawrence County, as well.

John Decatur was apparently killed in the Civil War in Texas. Sarah Jane Watson, formerly Bruce, nee Sexton, and their children, are found in the 1870 census in Independence County, but John Decatur is not with them.

Any assistance in identifying the parents of "Decater" Watson in Lawrence County (maybe it is William) will bring joy to my heart!!
