John O’Shields (Jr.) b: 1861, married Alice “unknown”, b: 1892, ca 1909, probably in Lee Co, AR. John, Alice, and 2 month old Sam are shown in the 1910 Census in Lee Co, Hampton Township, household 35/35.
In the 1920 Census for Lee Co, Hampton Township, household 2/2, Alice is the wife of Jerry M. Compton. Samuel O’Shields, 9, and Johnie O’Shields, 7, are listed as Stepson’s of Jerry.
In the 1930 Census for Lee Co, Hampton Township, household 324/329, is A.G. (Alice) Compton, a widow, and her 2 sons, Sam (Compton), 20, and John (Compton), 18.
My assumption is that John married Alice and they had 2 sons. John died some time after the birth of Johnie (ca 1912) and Alice remarried Jerry Compton before 1920. Jerry Compton died sometime between 1920 and 1930. He may have adopted John’s sons.
John O’Shields is the oldest brother of my Grandfather Issac Max O’Shields. I would like to communicate with anyone that knows of this family.
