I've always wondered about those tombstones, but your question made me dig a little deeper. Woodmen of The World is an insurance company founded in 1890 and is based in Omaha, Nebraska. It also began fraternal organizations similar to the Masons or Boy Scouts. http://www.woodmen.com/history.cfm will pull up a history of the company and on the left side of the page, click on Fraternal for an explanation of that facet. A link will also take you to an explanation about the tombstones. Shiloh Camp 666 implies to me that your grandfather not only bought the insurance and paid the extra $100 for a tombstone, but was a member of one of the fraternal orders. This link has information to help you request information about a relative or stone http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/resource/fraternal.htm#woodmen . There is also a site on the web for Phoenixmasonry Masonic Museum that shows some of the photos and memorabelia associated with WOW and Ranger fraternal organizations.
