I am researching Herman M. Goddard who was born in 1859 in Sebastain Co., AR and was killed on 8-14-1900 at Goodwater, IT (now McCurtain Co., OK). According to the 1900 IT census, he was married and had four children. I have managed to determine that his wife Mary E. died in 1925 at Broken Bow, OK. Herbert and Mary apparently lived in Little River County as they were married there in 1886 and the two oldest children were born in the county. Both Herman and Mary are buried in the Cooper Cemetery on the state line in Little River Co., AR. Two of their children who died young are also buried there as well as one of their adult sons (Willie). Their child, Colombus, was born in July, 1891 in Larmar Co., TX; another son, Willie, was born at Goodwater, IT (McCurtain Co., OK) as was their last child, Lottie Jessie Bell, in February 1900. Herman was a physician so it would appear that he practices medicine in Little River County for a while after he married, them oved to Larmar Co., TX for a short while, then moved on to Goodwater, IT (McCurtain Co., OK)at which time he was killed in August, 1900. I believe that he had ties to Little River county either on his side of the family or on his wife's side of the family (her maiden name was Strawn). I am endeavoring to determine when/where he obtained his physician's training; what prompted him to go into IT; what prompted him to become a US Deputy Marshal - somewhat strange in that he was a physician; does a photo exist of Herman that could be shared? Any and all information appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
