You stated that your third great-grandmother died in 1880 according to the Arkansas Death Index. I'm a little confused, since the Arkansas Death Index is a list of the people who have "death certificates" on file at Little Rock. Death certificates didn't begin until 1914, so there wasn't an Arkansas death certificate until that time.

Can you give me more information, or is the 1880 date incorrect?

The Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society has a book, "Master Index for Tombstones in Madison County, Arkansas". This book lists every tombstone in Madison County that has a name on it. I checked for Charlotte Hurt and didn't find a tombstone with her name on it.

If you can give me more information, I will be glad to try and help you.
