tippen in craighead county
hi! my great grandfather was william munroe/monroe tippen. he had two sons, william murrell and rufus franklin who were born in jonesboro, ark, around 1913-1916.
there are 17 tippen graves in kellers chapel cemetery, craighead county, ark. among those are alex tippen who was the second oldest civil war vet in 1949.
according to the 1880 census, five of those people were a family which came from georgia to jonesboro.
george b. tippen, b. 1821, georgia, father, blacksmith
sarah j. tippen, b.1823, georgia, mother
nancy j. tippen, b. 1864, alabama, daughter
eli j. tippen, b. 1868, arkansas, son
john w. tippen, b. 1847, son, farmer
i'm guessing my great grandfather is closely related to these folks or the other 12 buried in jonesboro, but i can't find the link. as jonesboro lost many records to a fire years ago, i've been able to find nothing, not even a birthdate for munroe.
if any of these people ring any bells, i'd sure appreciate any info you may have.
thanks, paula
