Research interest: Andrew Jackson RICHARDS b. 1847 in Carroll County Georgia, the son of Francis Marion RICHARDS and Angeline Mahala HALE(?)
He married Odessa "Susie" SUMMERLIN b. c. 1851 in Georgia.
Andrew Jackson and Susie are found in Missouri, Nevada County, Arkansas in the 1880 Census. It is known that they went to Texas prior to 1880 and travled with the children through out the south and possibly other areas as owners of a family circus/traveling show which we believe was established after 1880.
There are 10 known children, at this point, and may be others:
Irene, Emma, Lula Lee "Dollie", Charles, Henry Birdo, Minnie Ola, Carrie Mae, Franco G., Wesley Cisco, and Odessa "Des". Three of the known children were born after the 1880 Census and one birth is known to have been in Louisiana. In 1850 Census there was a niece and nephew listed in the household who were Ellen and Willie.
Some of these children are found still in the "show business" in the early 1900s making their home in Bandera County Texas.
Andrew Jackson RICHARDS was related to the HESTERLY family of this county and LEATHERS and MINORS of the area.
