My grandmother, Mary Sudie Payne, was raised by her grandmother, Harriet Tribble Smith. Harriet's daughter Sudie Smith died giving birth to Mary. Mary was born in 1900 and she said that her grandfather died before she was born. She also lived with Janie and Dollie (her aunts) who moved with her after Harriet died, (they never married) to Baytown TX they are on the 1930 census with JC Graham and Mary his wife. My father is AG Graham thier first born.
It is my understanding that my ggrandmother, Sudie was the daughter of George Smith and not John Mitchell.
I have a picture of Harriet holding my uncle in the 1920's. I would be glad to share it.
