Searching for information on a man named "George Edwards" who lived in Newton County, but close to the Madison County line at Red Star?

George was was a big man, standing about 6 feet 7 inches tall. He lived in Newton County up until at least the late 1930's.

He was a kind man, and was a "trader". He was charged with stealing and was sent away to either prison or a mental institution. Evidently most people thought he was framed for the crime. This charge was made after 1936.

It is not known how old he was but it is believed he was born between 1885-1900. He had one son named O'dell.

If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know.

Joy Russell
