Looking for information on this Murphy Family who once lived in Ouachita Co AR, 1860. Had moved from Hempstead Co AR where they resided in 1850. after 1860, family is lost after this, only the son Wm H Murphy is found, my connection, in Bowie Co TX, where he married my connection in 1869. I am hoping to locate where Jesse lived in SC and his (unknown last name wife) Elizabeth in MO... Unable to location Wm's siblings or parents after 1860. Jesse C Murphy b.1800/01 SC, who married Elizabeth ??? b. 1819/20, MO. Jesse & Elizabeth had the following children: William Henry Murphy (CSA) abt 1840/41 Levi/Lewis? Murphy abt 1842 Nancy Murphy abt 1844 Sarah Murphy abt 1847 Jesse Murpny abt 1851 Milton Murphy abt 1852 Newton Murphy abt 1855 America Murphy abt 1856 Leander Murphy abt 1859 The Parents were aged, and may have passed in Ouachita Co. Their son Wm H Murphy enlisted in the Civil war early, Feb 1861, joined the 12th AR Inf Regt, fought against Gen Grants army, at Belmont MO, and New Madrid MO, on Island #10 in the Mississippi, and Port Hudson LA, where the unit was surrendered, only after, Vicksburg fell. Half of Wm's unit was capture at Island #10 at New Madrid MO, joined up with the 6th AR Regt at Corinth MS, until they rejoined the 12th when it was reorganized. I suspect this Murphy line is from Union Co SC, where my connection with the Murphy's of that county begin, he may be a remote cousin of the lady he married in Bowie Co TX.
