Unfortunately, I don't have alot of information on my John Bunyon Smith. What I do have is comes from a family bible and a note written by a unknown person. John Bunyon Smith born unknown in unknown married (K)Catherine Lea (or Mary (K)Catherine) Runying born September 05, 1877, died October 06, 1917 and buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rondo, Lee County, AR. Children of the union were: "Doc" sorry I don't know his given name, every called him Doc. Gwen (married Hood Brown) Mary Enola (married William Lee Dice)born January 23, 1906, died December 12, 1971 at West Helena, Phillips County, AR and buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rondo, Lee County, AR. From typed letter (author unknown) that states: for Lois V. Dice Kelley Your Grandfather John Bunyon Smith Copied from your grandmothers famile bible He was a good husband and father. He was always playing jokes on people and every one loved him. He was a hard worker and always helping people out in anyway he could. He was a member of the mason's. In the winter of 1918 pneumonia broke out. He rode an old mule to each neighbor's house each day to check on each family. Then he caught pneumonia his self, but still he rode 42 miles on a mule to get a doctor for 2 little neighbor girls. The little girls were saved, but John died the very next day. As you can see, not much is known about our John Bunyon Smith. He died when my Grandmother (Mary Enola Smith Dice) was a small child. Unfortunately, as is the case in most families; while young we did not ask alot of questions about where we came from, etc. If any of this sounds familiar, I'll be eternally grateful!! Have a great visit with your family and I'll look forward to hearing from you when you get back home. Happy Holidays! Renee' Notify Administrator about this message?
