Excerpts from an article in the Poinsett County History and Families Book.
Bud Johnston and Ida Priscilla McWhirter were married in Lepanto on July 11, 1917, and became the parents of eight children: Maxine, Charline, Pauline, Peggy, Willis, Annabelle, Jack and Judy.
Ida Priscilla McWhirter Johnston was born at Lake City, AR to James Henry and Annie Elizabeth McWhirter who moved to Lepanto before she was eight years old.
Sundays usually found the family, their kinfolk, and guests enjoying a delicious noon meal. In warmer weather the meal was often served on the front porch that ran the width of the farmhouse (which Bud built in 1930). Sometimes they ate Sunday dinner at the nearby home of Finis McWhirter, Ida’s brother. Ida died in 1974 and Bud died 1987. They are buried at Potter’s Cemetery. Submitter by Pauline J. Hall
