Gas truck explosion?

In the never ending search for my grandfather, I have come across info that he possibly died in the Poinsett County area while delivering a truck load of fuel to an oil rig in early to mid 1943. I can find no record of this online, nor can I find his death record. Does anyone remember this or could a lookup possilby be done in someof the older newspapers? He supposedly lived in Rivervale. His name was (according to my father's birth cert, who was born after his father died) James E. Owen Haynes. Any help is appreciated.
