Terri, first, I do so hope you are a Sarah Palin supporter.

Second, I knew some Slocums from Hickory Ridge, AR....Larry and Ronald...any relations?

My cousin and I have done various research at the Poinsett County Court House. These old books are housed in the basement. They are just a mixture of various records. There is no one there that would look up anything. Do you have any relatives or someone that would go look for you? The Court House did burn, I think only once, and the various offices will tell you there are only certain records but with different people coming into the court house after the county officers are elected, they really don't know what's down in the basement. Thank goodness the a jailed "trustee" built the shelves and got the books up off the floor onto shelves. Those of us who do genealogy owe him a big debt of graditude. I'm hoping he has been released by now. (That was several years ago that I was there.) What are you looking for? Maybe I could remember what is down there. But as I said, it's a mixture of stuff and it's a little of this and a little of that. But the land records really do give you a history of property if you know whether your line owned property or not. Hope this helps.

Sue
