Hello. I may be wrong, but I believe where you are speaking of is north of Carlisle. Carlisle is on the eastern edge of Lonoke County. I am not sure of the now county lines between Lonoke and Prairie County.
However I do know that the lines have shifted over the years. The final lines were finally established I believe in 1873.
I live in Lonoke County but when my own kin came here in 1869, they were in Pulaski County, then it switched to Prairie and then finally Lonoke County. They never moved not one time but the lines kept shifting.
In fact Brownsville was a county seat of Prairie County until the Civil War. The Yankees had a battle there and when it was over, Brownsville which had been around 1400 people was nothing but a sleepy little community. The Yankees tore down the courthouse there and made a barracks for their men.
You need to know some of this when you are checking.
If you are in Arkansas go to your nearest library and visit in the genealogy room. I know that in our local library we have a lady who is really on top of everything.
Good luck with your search.
Linda
