Anyone have anything about the STEWARD migration from Arkansas to Whitman County, Washington state in 1885? My ggm JULIA ANN STEWARD (SETH/PARKER) met and married JOHN MILTON COFFLAND there in 1887. The question is why did they both migrate to that part of the world at that time? I think it may have something to do with her husband, at that time (my ggf) WILLIAM J. STEWARD, (b. 1820,TN, d. ??) I think William knew John Coffland in the civil war and was a scout with the army during the NEZ PERCE Indian wars where he was killed in the Whitebird, Idaho battle.......any help on this theory???
