"Choke Rag Hollow" -origin of the name- Walnut Corners

Has anyone heard the name, Choke-Rag Hollow, in reference to the area of Walnut Corners?

This is between Wedington and Rhea's Mill.

There was a one-room school-house, but it is now gone.

The locals still call it "Rag Hollow" to this day.

The origin of the name is that there was a fight between two men, "Kit" Johnson and John Sanborn Hulet. One of them was choked "limp as a rag".

I'm looking for details of this event or any information about the history of that area.

Hulet died in 1933. And Johnson's nephew, Wayne Henderson, doesn't remember the details of the story.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks.

M Martin
