Hi Paul,
The origin of the name is both French and Spanish, the family extends to both sides of the border. As to the person Joan D'Arce I know of her and her family she is neither DeArce or D'Arce she was born on the crusades in what is now Israel at a place called Arce.About the question the birth in Pyrenees France that is a record I have not seen before. My information comes from Britanica.com I was also researching her to see if there was a connection.By coincidence a large number of D'Arce's and DeArce's come from Pyrenees French region. The border between France and Spain was not as it is today it was much further into France at one time I have maps on this.
I lead a group of researchers looking into the name.We have a sit on www.myfamily.com which is a repository for our information.
I am located in NYC.If you want to join us in our research just email me at my work e-mail below.
