I feel there has to be a connection somewherebecause the names are familiar! However, I know of only one Ardiel that went out west - Maud Mildred Ardiel married Jack Hoggard and they moved to the Vancouver. Obviously, the surmane there would be Hoggard! I regret to say that I am leaving tomorrow for a holliday 'til the 10 of August. When is your granddaughter's wedding? I will do some research when I return home and see what I can find for you. There is another lady who is keenly interested in the Ardiel genealogy and she may have information also. Just to see the name spelled the same way, makes me think there must be a connection! I have seen it spelled many ways - Ardale, Ardell, Ardele, etc.
My anscestors came to London Township, Middlesex County, Ontario in about 1847. They were Leonard and Rebecca (Carry) Ardiel. They are buried in St. John's Cemetery at Arva, Ontario - just north of London, Ontario.
Perhaps we can keep in touch.
Judith Hood - my mother's maiden name was Ardiel
