I'm researching the Ardiel family for both present day Ardiels who are good friends and also because they intermarried with my wife's Haskett family.

A story told in the family is that Leonard 1876 - 1940,( son of John Leonard 1851 - 1931, Son of John Leonard 1799 - 1875, son of Leonard and Rebecca Carry) is that he lost his farm in Middlesex County, Ontario in a gamble and had to move to Machar Township, Ontario where there was free land available. From there his children moved to Collingwood Township where they exist in some numbers today.

Any truth or proof of this story ?
