This is very interesting. I'm actually trying to find the birth and origins of Percy, adopted son of Daniel George Bostock and Mary Ann Ardrey. Daniel George and Mary Ann were married 1st quarter 1881 Westminster but I am told by a third party that Mary Ann Ardrey came from Barming, Kent.

Daniel George (known as George) was a "Basket Shopman" in 1881 census I am told. Our own family gossip from living relatives is that Percy was brought up near Ditton and that Daniel George was a Basket Manufacturer.

Was he taught basketry by the Ardreys? Did he employ the Ardreys? I was always told that he owned a Basket Factory that supplied baskets to Covent Garden but you know what family rumours can be like!

Has anyone in Kent "lost" an illegitimate or orphaned Percy?

Lydia
