Peter,I just came across your message about Abraham and Ann Westly Argent. As close as I have found, I am related to you. I have been searching this line since 1975, and I think my gr.-gr-grandfather John Argent was Abraham and Ann's son. He was born April 13, 1808. All he said was that he was from Essex.
I found John in "Family Search" from the LDS. That was the first I knew of Abraham.
In 1816, John, 8 years old,and another boy that we have been assuming was his 10 year old brother Daniel, and an older girl named Susan, all came to America by themselves.
There were no passenger lists for that year and the first record I can find for John, was a 1830 census for St. Louis, Mo. Then his marriage certificate to his first wife. There are numerous records from that time forward, but nothing going back.We cannot find anything on Daniel that says that the two of them were brothers, but they each named a son for the other
Will you help me fill a few records if you can?I would dearly like to find John's family.
Thanking you in advance,
Cousin? Mary
