I read a few years ago that all people with the names Argent, Argente or Argenti, originated in the town of Argenton in France. These people arrived in England with William the Conqueror, some settled in Britain while others returned to Europe. Hence the name Argente in France and Spain and Argenti in Italy.
My husbands family is from the province of Valencia, Spain, but with pale skin, blue eyes and red hair! No one there seems to be in the least bit interested in tracing there roots.
We recently had a phone call from someone with the same surname. He noticed us in the phone book and felt he had to find out where we were from. It turned out he was from a small town not far away from where my husband was born. We asked my husbands family if they new of any relatives in that area as most of the Argente's in Spain seem to be related. Again we were met with a "Oh maybe"!
