The shop you refer to I believe is now called Wycherleys and is a deli. It was opened in the late 1880's or 1890's by James Arkinstall and in the fifties was run by R.J. Arkinstall. The last reference I can recall was in the Shropshire business directory of 1955. But there was a recent article about the shop in the Nova news. ( A magazine produced in Newport Shropshire about Newport Shropshire. This James Arkinstall is sadley too old to be my Grandfather and I am not aware of a family connection.
However the name is very common in the local area - Sambrook, Lilleshall, Tibberton, Great Bolas, Childs Ercall are all local villages that have been inhabited by Arkinstalls.
Don't know if this helps anyone.
