HI Marsha,
If you were to go to the Family History Center at one of the LDS churches and use there records you would find that the ORIGINAL name was ANER... and That information is as some one else said tracked back to 1569 * Stefan Aner* of Windlach, Switzerland. Windlach is a Canton * City of or in * Zurich* When the Aner's traveled to America in 1734 and arrived in Philadelphia May 29, 1735. Soon after that the Name changed. Now the name has become Arner, Ahner, Auhner, Orner, Urner,and Erner.
