Joseph - I don't have an obituary, just a short newspaper notice of his death. I do know that his wife Jane Robinson Sherman was from NY as well as her first husband, Levi Sherman. He and Levi both enlisted along with a brother of Jane's in the 105th IL Infantry. At that time, he lived in Kingston, DeKalb, IL. After the war, he went to tell Jane what had happened to Levi (he was killed at Bowling Green). She had a son and daughter. Osker married her and before their son Oscar Levi Aurner was born, Osker drowned in Mud Creek north of Vinton, Benton Co., IA. Jane & Levi were from NY originally. I have been told that there was Aurner family in IL that Jane went to see. They weren't wealthy, but fairly well off. Jane married a third time to Frank Davis. They had 2 daughters. Osker, Jane, & Frank are all buried in Urbana Cemetery, Urbana, Benton Co., IA along with her daughter Della Davis Cumberland who died in childbirth. Oscar Levi Aurner m. Ione Casner of Urbana after his first wife Ettie Belfield passed away. Oscar and Ione were my grandparents. I have pictures of most of these tombstones in Urbana. Help me!!
