According to a compilation of Arner family descendants, located in the Library of Congress in D.C., Jacob Arner was the son of Johann (Hans) Ulrich Arner brn 1/10/1729 in Stadel Switzerland, and his wife Margaretha ?. Johann Hans was the son, (4th child) of Hans Ulrich Arner and wife Verena Eberhard. Hans and Verena emigrated from Rotterdam in 1735, on the ship Mercury, with a religious settlement group under the Rev. Henry Goetschy. 4 of their children came over with Hans and Verena, Margareth, Verena, Felix (my ggg grandfather) and Johann Hans Ulrich, (a Jr. in this case). They first settled in Pennsburg Pa., then bougth land in now Lehigh Co. Jacob was born circa 1759, and married Barbara Arnold, daughter of Frederick. They received land in Canada in 1790, according to this record. There is information available on the children of Jacob and Barbara, and extensive information on the trip to America with the Goetschy party if you are interested. E-Mail me at judyd@netcarrier.com. Jacob's father Johann Hans was not a loyalist and was in the militia in Pa. during the revolution as far as we know. Judy
