Hi Marvin, I found a J. H. or J. W. Arteberry in:Schedule 2 Slave Inhabitants in the county of Fulton, KY, enumerated July 12, 1860. It only list him as owner - BM-37ys old; FB-19, MB-12, & FB-1 mo. I don't know what this means - it is just something that I found. Maybe you can do more with it.
I have asked for info on the slave thing and there were slaves (in someones writing in some of these forums) they were drowned along with their owner on some ship or boat.
