I have a possible connection for you.

Elizabeth Atteberry (b c 1830 Hart County, KY) d/o William Atteberry (drowned on the steamboat "Brandywine" on 23 Apr 1832) and his wife Sallie FLETCHER. Sallie moved on to MO and her children are generally thought to have married and raised families there.
If Sallie moved with her Fletcher relatives, perhaps that would explain Elizabeth marrying one. Cousins often married cousins.
I have nothing on this Elizabeth, just thought it might be worth checking out.
Elizabeth's siblings were supposed to be Alfred L., Milton, Arthur, and Cynthia Ann whose line I have some on. Alfred's line is in Wayne Atteberry's book and in Winters & Mitchell's book. Wayne suggests Milton is the same person as Edward M.
Let me know if this helps so I can update my files.
