Dr. Fletcher Gladstone Asbill

Dr. Fletcher Gladstone Asbill of Ridge Springs, Souh Carolina was a physician, farmer, banker, inventor, builder and dentist. He was born May 16, 1868 at Ridge Springs, South Carolina. His father was Lewis Monroe Asbill, M.D. and his mother was Mary Ann Mitchell. Mary Ann was the daughter of Green Mitchell of Betesville and Ridge Springs, South Carolina. Green Mitchell's encestors came from England and Holland.

Dr. Fletcher attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with honors in the School of Medicine and Dentistry.

On September 3, 1895, he married Miranda DuBose, daughter of John DuBose, M.D. and Sarah Scarborough DuBose. Merinda was the granddaughter of William Harrison Scarborough.

Dr. Fletcher's motto was:

"Learn to do well whatever you undertake.
Strive to excell.
Be thorough.
Be the Soul of Honor.
Live so that even the undertaker
will be sorry when you die.

Children of Dr. Fletcher G. Asbill and Miranda DuBose Asbill:
1. Fletcher DuBose Asbill.
2. Dr. David St. Pierre Asbill married Pauline Porter. He was born in 1901. Child:
a. Dr. David St. Pierre Asbill married Alice Mackie.
