Carolyn,
First, thanks so much for all the research you have done and shared with everyone via this forum. Where are you getting your info?

I grew up in Ridge Spring and know that Batesburg was once Batesville, but am not sure when the name changed. I will try to find out and see if it matches your dates. I do know that there are alot of Mitchells in the Batesburg area.

Additionally, my aunt informed me of an old Asbill graveyard, which was overgrown when she found it in the 1940's. According to her, there is a marker that tells the story of three brothers, one who settled in NC, one who settled in SC, and one who settled in GA. The graveyard is in the middle of a peach orchard and I am hoping to explore it this fall (after the snakes have hibernated and the insects have died off). I can only hope the marker has survived the acid rain of the last 60 years. Once I get in there, I will post my findings on this forum.
