Thought I should mention that Aiken was named in honor of William Aiken because he was president of the railroad and was responsible for the railroad running to Aiken from Charleston. Lots of history there that I won't get into. William Aiken was from Charleston which is at least 200 miles from Aiken. If the area around Aiken was called Aikentown prior to 1813, then alot of history books in SC will have to be changed.
