Clyde W. Asbell was born August 14, 1931, in Currie, Minnesota the son of Clyde and Ruth (Farmer) Asbell. Following his graduation from Slayton High School in 1950, he opened and operated a photography studio for two years until it burned down. He then went into the Army, serving in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to care for his mother. On December 31, 1954, he married Alma Abramson in Slayton, Minnesota. He sold farm products until he retired from Northrup King in the early 1980s. Clyde, died Monday, November 26, 2007, at Owatonna Hospital, Owatonna, Minnesota, at age 76. Clyde and Alma loved to travel, first by motorcycle and later by motor home. He enjoyed nature, bird watching, trains, and enjoyed traveling out west. He was active in his church, running the video recorder, teaching Sunday School and confirmation classes. He enjoyed the country music of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and others.

Clyde is survived by his wife Alma, Owatonna, MN; children: Cynthia (Greg) Youtz, Bloomington, MN; Michael (Deanna) Asbell, Bayfield, WI; Sandra (Brad) Flores, Eau Claire, WI; and Sharon Asbell, Minneapolis, MN; and six grandchildren: Melissa, Benjamin, Christopher, Timothy, Nicolas, and Kiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law Donna and Ossie Ford.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 3, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at The Associated Church. The Reverend Ronald D. Wilson officiated. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or The Associated Church. Military honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
