Edgefield District was "split up" after the Civil War, creating Saluda and Aiken Counties. The Asbill's lived in the area of Ridge Spring that is now called Monetta and which is in Aiken County.

Lewis Monroe Asbill was a SC legislator from Aiken County during the Wallace House/Redeemer Govt.
