My line goes back to William Ascott b. 1780 and Margaret ?.
Their children were: Charles John born/christened April 10, 1814 St. Mary, Rotherhithe, England, William Joseph August 29, 1802, Joseph April 20, 1806, Joseph Ascott April 20, 1806, Philadelphia April 10, 1811, and Henry December 14, 1817.

The line then follows Charles John Ascott who married Caroline Hatchard on February 14, 1838 at Parish Church of St. John of Wapping, County of Middlesex, England.

Their children were William George March 11, 1841, Stephney, Saint Dunstan, London, England. Charles William Abt. June 25, 1843, Walter John Abt. June 25, 1843, Alfred George April 01, 1849, Joseph January 04, 1852, Benjamin February 19, 1854, Caroline Maria February 19, 1854, Mary Jane October 19, 1856, and Arthur October 19, 1856.

Could these Ascotts be related to the Ascotts of Halberton in your post?

William George died in Keokuk, IA, USA in 1909. He appears to be the first of this line to emigrate to America. I have been told that the Ascotts came over on a ship called "Ascott", the only one I have found is a ship called the "Ascott & John" They were either in the shipbuiling industry or they built billiard tables. Can anyone confirm this?
