June quarter 1872 - William died age 36 at Tiverton 5b 288.

George's Marriage Certificate dated 17th October 1905 states William Ascott Deceased whose occupation was a Builder as his father.

With regards to the Ascott family at the pub called The Swan Inn in Higher Town of which William Ascott was the landlord in the 1870's
The Swan Inn lost trade after the turn of the century and in 1919 the owners Starkey, Knight & Ford Ltd. (Brewers), sold it to Halberton for use as a Memorial Village Hall (WW1). It still remains in Higher Town, now the High Street, as the Village Hall, but also containing Halberton Club which still has a licence to serve alcohol.
