Gerald, thanks for the reply. I haven't found a Richard Ascott/Arscott yet. My line appears to be from London.I go back as far as William b. 1780 (don't know where) who married Margaret in about 1801. Their Children were:(Birth dates are actually christening dates)

Charles John Ascott b.April 10,1814 in St. Mary, Rotherhithe, England

William Joseph Ascott b.August 29, 1802
Joseph Ascott b.April 20, 1806
Thomas Ascott b.April 20, 1806
Philadelphia Ascott b.April 10, 1811 in St. Mary, Rotherhithe, England

Henry Ascott b.December 14, 1817

My line descends from Charles John Ascott. He was married about 1830 to Caroline. Their children were:

Willam George Ascott b.March 11, 1841 in Stephney, Saint Dunstan, London, England. Died January 16, 1909 in Keokuk, Iowa, USA.

Charles William Ascott b.Abt. June 25, 1843, in Saint Dunstan, Stepney, England

Walter John Ascott b.Abt. June 25, 1843

Alfred George Ascott b.April 01, 1849 in in Saint Dunstan, Stepney, England

Joseph Ascott b.January 04, 1852

Benjamin Ascott b.February 19, 1854

Caroline Maria Ascott b.February 19, 1854

Mary Jane Ascott b. October 19, 1856

Arthur Ascott b. October 02, 1859

My line descends from William George Ascott. His son John Mason Ascott is my grandfather. I don't know where the name Mason comes from. I was told years ago by the family that the Ascotts came to America on a ship called the Ascott. The only one I have found is a ship called the "Ascott and John" but I haven't found any Ascotts on the ship's passenger list. Of course I was searching for Ascott. I will have to go back and check for the other spellings you listed.

If you have any information on any of these people, I would greatly appreciate a reply.
